So like many people I saw this item in Recoil magazine in an add and thought, "how cool". So while I was at the Cross Roads of the West gun show I saw the supertool booth and figured Id take a look. At first I was super excited, as the are pretty neat little cases. I thought that the leather case would work particularly well for me when I take my carry gun to work but cant fully conceal it on my person.
So I bought one, a black leather one. The price wasnt too bad, as the gun show price was cheaper than online and I didnt have to pay for shipping, but now Im sitting here wondering if it was worth the purchase.
I mean its totally cool, and it works for what its intended for, but when I think about it, my gun is normally in a nano vault in my bag when not on me.....
I guess the case works pretty well if you work in a formal office environment. I guess you could technically have it sit on your desk or slightly out of your bag since its a locking container but really I wouldn't want to leave a firearm out in the open like that anyway. The big plus to this item is the fact that when I due use it and someone sees it, they dont think anything of it. So when I take it out of my car and put it in my bag or anything like that no body has a clue!
The magnetic aspect of the case is also pretty spectacular. The gun, in this case my M&P Shield, fits snugly in the case and doesnt move around. I could literally put the gun in the case and turn it upside down and not have to worry about the firearm falling out. This is good because if the gun was to slide around in the case like a normal pistol case it would drive me crazy.
Overall the case is pretty neat, nice, durable, and well constructed. Potentially a tad pricey. With that in mind, Im not sure if I would purchase it again simply due to the fact that I am limited in the ways I would use it. Additionally, I am not a fan of cases/vaults with keys and that throws me off as well.
