The Urban Marksman: Raven Concealment Holster

If you have ever watched Magpul's Art of the Dynamic Handgun, then you have certainly seen raven concealment holsters in action.

Raven Concealment Holsters (RCH) are some of the greatest holsters out on the market today. The holsters are a kydex pancake style that have a number of different mounting options and color options.

I first bought a raven concealment phantom holster for my M&P Shield right after getting my CCW. I had spent a ton of time online looking at reviews, watching videos, and examining all the potential options available and thought I couldnt go wrong. Well, lets just say since then I have bought a few other holsters.

I ordered the holster with the soft loops and I intended to wear the holster at the 4 o'clock position IWB, however I quickly found out how uncomfortable it was. Its just the nature of the Kydex pancake style holster that they are hard, and as such didnt really conform to my body. Regardless the quality is second to none.

So Ive spent some money on my holsters and I have found them to be really great for OWB use. They are super thin and really have amazing retention. Kydex holsters didnt quite cut it for purely IWB carry at 4-5 o'clock for me.

With that in mind, the holster still gets occasional CCW use as it is thin and I can throw it in my bag in case I need a back up carry option, and it will get alot of time with OWB applications such as IDPA.

The Glock holster and mag carrier was bough exclusively for my IDPA glock and was purchased as a set brand new for a fraction of the retail price.

So Id like to end with this simple thought: If you want a really great kydex holster you cant go wrong, however if you intend to make this your everyday CCW holster just be aware that kydex might not be the most comfortable option around!
